Researchers at German Research Center for Environmental Health has successfully grew breasts in petri dishes. Research group led by Dr. Christina Scheel has been able to culture human breast epithelial cells to create three-dimensional tissue structure of the mammary glands. This tissue culture breakthrough method will be able to provide breast cancer researchers a better understanding of cancer. The method is published in Development on 12 June 2015.
This new method may be able to help those women with breast cancer who suffered psychological distress after surgery due to breast loss.
